Should I send this one back?

New Bow. Supposedly Samick Sage. (Off brand name).

Right out of the box I see a separation in the riser right on top. May have been filled. Is this going to give me trouble? 1 year warranty.

What do you think?

I'd send it back. If its new I would want it perfect.

Unless it is obviously no good to shoot, I'd string it up and shoot it. At that price point, "perfection" may not be totally reasonable. You should, however, expect a bow that will perform as advertised.

If you have any doubts about safety, send it back. I'm sure a company that large deals with returns/customer complaints quite often.

Give them a call, they'll probably surprise you.

Edit: I really can't see very much in the picture though.
Live and let live.

Yes not a good pic. Cell phone.
anyway they said they would exchange if they found it defective. Wonder what they call defective? If defective I don't pay freight. If not I do.
Wonder if they would just send this back again if they don't think it's defective?

I guess I'll try sending it back.
Thanks guys

I can't tell from the pix.  If it's delaminating, send it back. If an area has been "filled-in," maybe with some epoxy, but is sound, shoot it.

Jon Stewart

Yes send it back.  You know the flaw is there and it will drive you nuts.

njloco

Send it back with a letter telling them to improve their quality control and to please check the next bow carefully before sending it to you.

Good luck.

I can't see a thing but think about this:

It is a samic sage copy! the sage itself is only a $139 dollar bow and this is a lesser copy. I guarantee that every one that needs gap filling gets gap filling instead of trashing.

send a letter to improve quality control? this is a representative bow and priced so. If you expect perfect workmanship you have to pay for it.

If it is truly un sound, it should go back but just a filled gap...you get what you pay for.

I just try to live my life in a way that would have made my father proud.

Actually costs more than the Samick Sage at other vendors, especially one of our own. I just got it there because I had points.

It's going back. I think Big Jim nailed it. And he should know. Jon is right too -- if it opens up more after the 1 year warranty I'll be really unhappy about that.

thanks guys
