There are currently several PayPal scams circulating to get you panicked and use the supplied link to verify or check your account.

And then the scammers have your password.

Also, never use your computer's "remember me" or automatic ID and password saving feature with PayPal - or any banking or credit union websites.  Virus programs can scan for that and then transmit to the evil doers.

Here is the link to PayPal on how to report them . . . (if you can trust me).       :jumper:

Pay pal is not "Hacked" they are a very secure and reliable Service company.
The phishing scams are from crooks, and this can and does happen with any company that deals with money.
Some good advice has been given in this thread already. Just be aware of activities that are out of the norm, and log in thru the vendors website only, not thru any link.
I like Pay Pal. It is very convenient, and secure.

Exactly.
Paypal wasn't hacked.
Individuals hacked themselves by being careless.

Oldest trick in the book. Log on to PayPal and check your balance before you freak out. As others had said, NEVER trust an email from "PayPal" with a link on it.

Proportionately way more credit card accounts get hacked than Paypal. I have been using paypal since it first came out. No hacking ever. In the same time period my Citibank card has been hacked and replaced 6 yes SIX times. But big deal; it has never cost me a penny.

I have gotten two e-mails from "paypal" this week and they wanted me to goto a link and verify info ( yeah right ) thats not going to happen . Be carefull folks

I once received what looked like a PayPal email receipt, which showed the debit of over $500.00 from my account. In the email, it said to click the link to dispute the charge if I felt the charge was in error. Instead of clicking the dispute link, I checked my credit card account and signed onto my PayPal account to check the supposed charge. I didn't find the charge listed in the email, so I called PayPal. They asked that I forward them the email, which I did. A PayPal employee called me back and verified the email I had received was an attempt to hack my account and if I had clicked the "dispute charge" button on the email, I would have been hacked.
Nice catch!

And this applies to any site that holds any of your personal info..NEVER EVER NEVER sign into said site via an email link...go directly to the site and sign in.

Those buggers can create the most official looking emails for a trap.

As I would like to kindly (and unfortunately) defend myself. I for one was not being "careless" at any point when I received a strange email and made a PHONE CALL to pay pal to find out what was going on.  Where the guy on the other end if the line said to me that "several accts had been hacked into today particularly for some reason". As I don't speak GEEK these were HIS words.
My FRIENDLY post to you all was a simple one. Change you're passwords regularly, be cautious and check your accounts. I also stated I've been using it for about a decade and this has never happened.
didint say I didn't like it, didn't day it was inconvenient, didn't say it was NOT secure...

I wasn't implying that you were in the wrong in any way and I appreciate the friendly heads up Matty, thanks for looking out for me and everyone that uses paypal here. There are many ways for evildoers to gain access to good peoples accounts I was just pointing out one of the more frequent attacks I've run into.

I've received two spoof paypal emails in the past week & a half.

Both were asking me to click a link to verify my identity.

There are some bad folks out there, and they are getting more clever by the day with scams of things to make people think they are legit.

Be Careful Out There !!!

I've been a member since before 2000 and never have had a glitch and you are protected if a glitch happens. I usually won't even buy something online if I can't use PayPal. Protects you way better than USPS money orders!
