Well the hunting wasn't easy, they get 0.35 a pound live weight so they is a lot of trapping going on.  That means lower pig numbers and hard hunting.  We planned to not hunt super hard just take it easy and not burn our selves out.  Hunting mornings isn't very productive so we slept in, checked baits mid morning and still hunted bedding areas.  The pigs were very skittish and if they smelled you at a feeder they didn't come back.  My partner was busted at one the first night and they never returned the whole week.
I think it was the 3ed night the camera showed pigs coming to a feeder right at last light.  The next night I was there and they were right on time.    :D   Two real big ones wouldn't come in and after about 12 minutes I decided a bird in one hand is better then 2 in the bush.  I took the shot on this little one sharp quartering away with a single bevel 2 blade A Bowyer broad head and what a job it did.    :clapper:   It went in cutting 2 1/2 ribs ( only pencil size ) the top of the heart, couple more ribs by the collar bone out the throat wedging in the jaw bone.  What a blood trail for a little animal only going 30 yards.
More a little later.

Those little ones are way better eating than the big ones!

Congrats on your pig!

Didn't have any action the next 2 days but on the last morning I was checking some feeders and cameras.  On the dive in to one feeder I caught some movement way ahead.  Didn't see much but thought it was a yote.  Parked and walked about 200 yards ahead and set up the foxpro.  It was pretty thick so I backed off crosswind about 35 yards with my 22 mag.  I was betting he would come in on the down wind side so that's where I was looking.  Within a minute I caught movement out of my peripheral vision right at the caller.  She as it turn out knocked the caller over coming in from the up wind side, one good shot she went down like a brick.

That afternoon we did some still hunting where the pigs were coming to a winter wheat field but disappeared until today.  A lot of sign in the field and a tank ( pond ) with fresh droppings and a ton of tracks.  My partner (Ed Grosko)and I split up still hunting the bedding area, nothing.  I tried to call a yote in to bow range 3 times with no luck.  The last hour Ed hunted the tank in a natural blind wearing a leafy suit and I hunted a spot we found where they were coming under a fence showing a lot of fresh tracks.  I set up where I had a 9 yard shot about 20 yards from the crossing.  Siting on a rock I looked up and thought if they turned up the fence line I would have no shot.  Last minute I moved 8 feet trimmed a little and now I had a shot to both.  About 15 or 20 minutes of last light they came over a hill about 80 yards away and 20 in number.  Never have seen anything like this, the lead hog would move very slow and stop every 25 or 30 yards and look and listen for about a minute.  She had a bad left front wheel limping bad. They came under the fence and turned right not going straight, lucky I moved.
She stopped again about 20 feet from my shooting lane and all the other pigs would catch up but never cross the line.  They looked like a foot ball team staying behind the ball.  The shot was 11 yards on a slow moving target.  The shot was good but a tiny bit high straight above the leg.  The arrow penetrated up to the fletching and pigs erupted every where.  Thought I heard her gone down with a bunch of gurgling sounds but wasn't sure.  After only about 10 minutes I slip out to check where I shot her for blood.  There was good blood right away but after only 10 yards a pig grunted on top of the ridge about 50 yards away and I could make it out through the brush with my binoculars and the western sky.  I backed back down in my hole, damn still alive I thought.  Finally I couldn't take it and got back on the blood trail and what a trail it was, better the the little one.  She only made it 28 yards but my sight was blocked by big boulders.  I made it to the truck and waited for Ed sitting in the drivers seat.  Ed opened the rear door to put his bow and pack in when he saw me.  Oh did you see anything?  Yep.  Did you get a shot?  Yep.  Did you hit one?  Yep.  Did you get him?  Yep.  Then we started laughing.  This was one of my coolest hunts.

Happiness is a red arrow.

I was using my new to me Centaur 60" 54# @ 29" with arrow dynamics with A bowyer single bevel heads 300 grain for a total weight of 780 grains.  Very impressed with the A bowyer heads.
