Hunting vacations

Just curios to what you hunted and where some of you may have went to do a hunting vacation with your families.
I'm interested in doing a hunt/vacation in the future and looking for some ideas

The Big Island (HI), Florida, Colorado. Pigs, goats, sheep, small game, etc. MY favorite,.... the Big Island. Do your research before you go, the other islands are good too, I hear.

First thing you need to do is stop using hunting and vacation together.  If not, our wives will find out that hunting is fun and find a way to change that.

Doing a week in Clearwater Florida in April, taking a kayak to do a little fishing in the gulf and some sight seeing and then added a 3 day hog hunt on the back end with True South Adv.  My wife is going to video me and is pretty excited about that.  I've also hiked/camped in Colorado in the zone I was going to hunt that fall, so it doubled as a scouting trip.

Nice guy that I am, I took my wife with me bear hunting in Idaho last spring. She is even going back this coming May.  I also take her along on elk hunts. Oh, I almost forgot about the javelina hunt she went on with me. So far, she isn't up for a hog hunt.

My wife and I spent an 8 day pack in elk hunt together for our 40th birthday.  We had everything from sunny and 60 degrees to 12 inches of snow and 10 degrees.   Never got into the elk but had a wondeful time. Hoping to draw AZ this fall and do it again.    

Hunting trips are tough for the whole family to come along.  We usually schedule summer vacations in beautiful mountain settings and spend time hiking and fly fishing.

My wife has tagged along on a few elk hunts. She stays in the camper and enjoys the solitude while I'm packed into the wilderness.

I come out to restock and rest and the two of us drive into town and get a motel room for a couple of nights. We go out to eat and relax/rest up.

Then we head back to the campsite. She even hiked up a 1000 feet from the TH and camped with me one night.

She loves it. We also took a side trip to Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone on the way out.

My son is taking his family on a late summer western vacation in August of this year and is planning to cap it off with a few days of chasing elk with the bow... with me (I'll already be there).

Oh yeah... I meant to mention... she LOVES it!
