aim small...release

I was recently at a store and saw the small compasses used in the bear takedowns and though how neat to have one in my bow. has anyone put a compass on theyre bow?
Take a deep breath and pick a spot

You betcha!  I had one put in a Bigfoot Sasquatch and a Schafer Silvertip!  I love em. It is purely nostalgia for me. They remind me of my earliest days as a bowhunter.

Easy to do if you have a drill press.

First, make sure there's enough wood where you want to install it so it will not weaken the riser.  Be sure you have sufficient depth/thickness in the riser to be able to install the compass.

Clamp the bow so the side of the riser is perpendicular to the drill bit.  Use a Forstner bit just a tad larger than the compass.  Set the depth stop before you drill so you don't drill too deep.

Put a little silicone caulk in the bottom of the hole and press in the compass.  May want to mask tape around the hole first to catch any silicone that is pressed out.  Easier to clean up/off.  That's it.  QED.

I just had one put in my Silvertip and one going into my Silvertip due next month.
