Well guys finally got time to get on here with all the work backed up while I was gone. I would like to thanks all for your great comments on my first southern hog. If you haven't hunted with Irv and Jim from True South Adventures I would suggest you give it a try. And for you that have you know what I'm talking about. These guys put us on hogs all week and were  just a joy to hang out with. I feel like I have made new friends along the way with Irv and Jim and also Bill and Matt were great to have around and chew the fat with. Well I guess i'll pick it up from here after the dirty work was done we all started taking turns pulling this guy out of the (jungle) which like Irv said it was named, he aint lying. By the time we got back to Jims van around 12 or 12:30 we were all tired. So in the van he goes to take him to where we were staying for the night. Got to go for now work calls, and i'll get to the rest of the story later.

Dan(BigD), I have a pic of the "cooler" the big boar stayed in that night. I was about ready for a cooler or something after that drag!

BIGD

Well Jim here we go. As I said before we got (sox) back to Jims van somewhere around midnight. With being up at 4am I know I was beat and by the looks of everyone else I could tell they wanted no part of having to skin and bone out this boar tonight either. So like a lot of traditional hunters I think do, we put our heads together to come up with a plan. Now knowing that there probably aren't any butchers up at this time, I think my hunting partner Gerry came up with the idea of, we already have a tarp and bath tub at our hotel all we need is some ice and we got it made. So off to the hotel Jim and Ive go myself and Gerry to the 24/7 Walmart for ice. 16 bags of ice and another tarp and we got this bad boy cooling down. We all got to bed and some rest and the next day Sox was off to the butcher to be made into country sausage. Jim if you would like to add pictures of you and Ive keeping guard over that swine feel free to do so. Everyone just remember if you are going to use this method always have a lookout at the hotel.

Congratulations Dan on a dandy hog! It was great sharing a hunt with you!
Time spent alone in the woods puts you closer to God.

"Can't" never accomplished anything.

Dan harvested a true scrapper swine. This guy was king of the neighborhood for at least three years.

While doing chores around the ranch today, and reviewing older videos, we discovered that on one rare occasion,(no onee in camp, so I might as well hunt) I actually had video of the same hog
..."SOX".

Jim recognized him and we both agreed it was he...just 50 pounds lighter.

I had forgotten that I took video of this hog, but he spooked when my phone vibrated and I moved a bit to answer it.

That was good luck for Big D.

Sure would like to see you photos, Matt.
Whenever you get time.

I'm feeling bad that you didn't get to take any meat home with you.

We really try hard to leave our leases alone between hunts, so that fresh spots are available for everyone.

I guess it was just poor luck on your watch this trip.

Call us and we will offer you a nice discount next trip.

Thanks to all for your loyalty and for everyone's great attitude.

That's great Greg! Looking forward to hunting with you and Dale. We'll be in touch.

BIGD

Greg if you can take a bowfishing set up I think it would be fun. we did but it rained for 2 days prior to us getting there so the water was dirty. You'll have a good time, Irv and Jim are great guys to be around don't forget you'll want a first floor room at the hotel if you want to us the tub for your cooler. I wouldn't want to carrier to big of a hog up the stairs. good luck don't kill them all I want to go get some more next January. Jim if ya got a pic. of Irv on guard duty over my hog post it I think the heat is off by now.Haha

Greg Szalewski

You bet we will have bow fishing gear with us. This is a very popular auction item at our banquet. A couple years ago Corrie and Vicky went there and had a blast all day long. I all ready know Irv and enjoy his company. My wife was so excited when bidding on the hunt she even raised her own bid. That pretty much cleared out the competition.   :biglaugh:
