Looking to learn the art of bowmaking (bowyering i believe?)

Just following my heart here, and would like to get a first hand look at the craft/lifestyle, and if the shoe fits (as it does on my heart strings ^_^ ) I'd like to pursue owning my own bowmaking/outfitting company some day.

any pointing in the right direction would be great, as I've no clue where to start down this journey.

also, I've never been hunting before, but love camping etc. If anyone near the Utah area (willing to fly if it's not for 5-6 months) - is taking a large game hunting trip, I'd pay some coin to be able to come along, learn as much as I can, and help out as a pack mule (spry 24 years old, use me as you can) - to be able to get some experience out in the field.

This forum and the members are such a blessing in my life right now.. only been a member a few days, and I'm already feeling such brotherhood. thank all of you for being such great people, and welcoming me thus far.

If anyone needs help moving, heavy lifting, or nutritional/fitness advice, that's about the extent of my skills at the moment, send me a message where I can be of service   :)

The UT draws are fast approaching. Or you can buy an otc elk tag. There's a lot of public land and i'll be happy to steer you in the right direction. I also build a few bows but live an hour south of salt lake. When the weather warms a bit i'll be building a bit more. You shouldn't have to travel to hunt, especially if you're just learning.

Mike Fedora of Fedora bows does a bow making class.  I know that during the class you make a bow from start to finish and go home with your own bow that you made.  I do not know what the class costs, but Mike has trained some of the top bowyers around and has been building bows longer than just about anybody alive today.  He has a website if you want to check it out.  Good luck!

Yeah, what steadman said. There are a few of us who have made bows and seen a little about the business. I'll see you Wednesday if you make it to Jake's

Yep Spanish Fork. I'll pm you this spring and show you a bit on building. There's plenty around to hunt. And a few guys to shoot with. I'll be to Jakes on the 5th.
