Ace Roll-R-Straight Arrow Straightener

or

Shaft Tamer Arrow Straightener

Looking for a new straightening tool.  Which of these works best?

Thanks
AJ

I use my hands for 98% of straightening needs.

The other 2% I use one of these.

I make a lot of hard wood arrows so I use heat and my hands for most of my straightening. since I live in an apartment I don't have a wood burner to roll my shafts of to help straighten them so I heat up a piece of granite in the oven to use as a heat table.

SBD strings on all, what else?

I've tried both of the straighteners in question and also find a screwdriver easier to use.

Depends on weather you want to take the tool along with you in your pocket. I have both plus those already mentioned plus a few others. They all work, some easier than others.
Of the two you mentioned I like the Ace, does the job and easy to store in your pocket or pouch. I learned wood arrows do not like climate change even when sealed multiple  times. The shaft tamer will take the kinks out of the most stubborn of shafts and is my choice for laminated hard wood shafts. A heat gun would also help much with straightening shafts.

Any hard surface will work.  A screwdriver is easy.  If you want a pocket tool, make the back of your knife (lockback or sheath style) just a tad rounded and use that if you always carry it.  Or a heavier nail.  If you carry a Leatherman, the pliers end is somewhat rounded... there you go.

I heard tell someone out there uses a coon or bear "bone" for burnishing wood.

The glass insulators found on old power lines work well. You could probably find one in an antique store. I have the shaft tamer if you want to try it next time you are in the Fayetteville area.

Hey bicster, I'll probably be in town this weekend.  Maybe I can swing by and check it out

AJ - If you like the shaft tamer after trying it, PM me and you can have mine.  Just cover the shipping.  Screwdriver just works better for me.
