I don't prefer it over wool. Buy where a lot of fleece earlier in the year before it gets cold enough for wool.
Fleece is quite comfortable easy to wash and drys really fast. So its a great early to mid season choice. When the weather turns crappy and cold nothing beats will IMO.

I wear various types of fleece. Wool takes too long to dry in my wet hunting environment.

I do.  I prefer a Merino wool base and after that haven't really found a use for wool.  I find wool heavy, itchy, and slow to dry.

What he said, it's just heavy and itchy. Fleece just seems to be lower maintanance as well.

I prefer to layer my clothing.  I use fleece as my outer layer.  I've found it to be the quietest material available for hunting.

For an outer layer? Fleece is fantastic in nicer weather.

I prefer a high quality fleece jacket and pants with Windstopper for October through November here in Iowa.

I find that wool breathes a lot better for walking in and out and the end of the day.  I seem to overheat much more with fleece.

Fleece first, then wool on top, haven't been able to beat this combo, Swanndri wool doesn't get wet !

I already have several pieces of wool so I have no need to get much fleece. However, I like it just fine. Winter is not usually cold enough here for extended times that either fabric is noticeably superior. I wear wool more out of tradition than necessity.

Prefer wool and wear it when I can. Fleece just doesn't breath very well and if you sweat you get cold.

I use fleece for outer layer when it's windy.

PowDuck

I used to until I started wearing merino wool this year.

I like some of both, depending on the situation.  my favorite garments are wool, but I certainly don't wear em everyday
is it September yet??

I have wool    www.classicsportsman.com   or  www.classicbowman.com   jackets --  vests --  hats --  shirts --
Custom colors --  just blend in  ------  and stay warm--    the numberf one items on what to bring suggested by outfitters is  a wool shirt or jacklet  or wool pants --  I have wool pants in the works for 2014  --   olive green with brown cargo pockets-- and trim,   I would call these mid to heavy weight pants. 20-21 ounce wool --   Perhaps even OVER pants( like the US Army used -  for when you get on stand =-=-
100 % mde in the USA  --
