This is a broadhead that a friend of mine gave me a long time ago, he is the one who got me into Trad archery. Anyway, he passed away a couple months ago, and I found this head the other day, but I can't remember what kind of head it is. I think it is some kind of a Magnus, but if you guys could give me the specifics on it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!!

Looks like a magnus vented for an insert bleeder. Prolly a 125gr. Good head!

any idea about how old this head would be?

by the way, on my scale it weighs 149 grains. were these heads all glue-on, or could you buy them ready to go?

I guess that since my buddy has passed, and I found this head, it just got me to wondering about it.

It is a Bear head. I have several that I bought new years ago.

Looks like a Fred Bear razor head without the bleeder. I'm not 100 percent sure as it is not too green but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to affirm or correct me.

Thanks guys, it is more green than the picture shows. also the tip of the head is made more blunt and does not come to a chisel, needle, or a tanto point.

Those particular heads were gray.  They also produced some in stainless steel that had a blue ferrule.  I have some of those as well.  They are basically just like the original Bear Razorheads but came with the glued on screw-in adapters.

I have never hunted with it, but it is by far the easiest head that I have ever tried to sharpen.

is there anywhere to still find these heads for sale?

Thanks again guys!

David,

it may be gray, I am a little color blind, and green and gray look a lot the same to me.

David,
It's definitely a Bear Razor head. I have several of them along with the greenies & stainless. You might try our classifieds for the bleeders. They are the easiest heads around to sharpen, & with the bleeders, leave a huge hole. Some people will tell you they will bend at the tip. They will. Along with every other head given the right circumstance. They very good heads. Have killed hundreds of thousands of animals.

post this in the History section and someone will be able to tell you what year and anything else.  some knowledgeable archery historians on the T-gang.

From what I understand Bear would go with whatever paint they had or was least expensive from time to time so they came in a few different colors but all were much alike otherwise.  Along with Zwickey those heads have likely killed more stuff than all others combined over the years.  I like the Zwickey add that says there are some stuck in trees all across the planet so the sun never sets on Zwickey.  Bear could say pretty much the same thing.  I know of a few getting some sun right now - Arggg!!

1978 Bear Super Razorhead. Five years later this head was replaced with a stainless steel blade and a 1-piece threaded adapter and ferrule of aluminum.
