Hi All I have been building a lot of arrows as of late . I have tried bamboo . The ? I have is instead of using wood to reinforce the point end of the shaft could one use some drill rod ? Say 1/8 drill rod , It wood be strong and not bend as easy as steal , and wood add weight . What do you think or has anyone tried it ?   Thank You Rick

Haven't used rod, but don't see why it won't work.  Give it a shot and let us know.

I have used rod in my bamboo and it works good but sometimes splits the boo on hard impacts like solid stumps.

Have you ever used nail points? Tenbrook (the inventor of the banana spine tester) has a really good build along here:
