My bow came with a Damascus glove. Its pretty good. Little tight for my hand and fingers get sore after a while. So i'd like to know what other things their are to use? Also if their is anything easy or more challenging about using such a devise? Thank you.

Are you new to trad shooting or shooting fingers? if so keep shooting and ur fingers will build up to it. I just shoot a thin leather tab myself. I like to have as much feel as I can have.i know there is a synthetic tab that can be pretty thick... Can't remember the name though?

The Damascus glove is certainly hard on fingers.
You need a glove with cordovan leather and inserts.
Will be stiff but nice on the fingers.

Going farther afield:

Youtube video showing unusual / different release devices

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZAuSJ1G4nk

   (it's ~2 and a half minutes)

There's a ``Gemini ring'' (used by the Romans shown at 0:27) and two hand-held African devices (first has no name given / known referred to as the ``African shooting-cross of the Tengelin'' at 1:30), the last is referred to as a ``shooting-tablet'' (2:00).

The person in the video also does Indian archery:  http://www.the.dhanurvidya.com/  (remove ``the.'' for the original German).

There was a little bit on this sort of thing in Grayson's book:

And here's an image from a book w/ some more information:

Anyone know of any other resources for researching this sort of thing?

I prefer a tab over a glove.  I get a much better release with a tab and I can feel my anchor better without having my fingers enclosed.  Cordovan is a great material.  It is super slick and holds up much better than other types of leather.

Or you can cut some finger stalls (they will shape to your finger, are flexible to some degree and eliminate finger pain) from old plastic milk jug.  Just cut them to shape of your finger and allow them to curl around the finger so that is covers 2/3 of the finger.  I always have one in my gloves third finger.  Since I was shown this I can shoot 70 pound bows with no finger pain at all.

The best release aid is practice...lots of (mentally present) practice...
Your Chicken from McDonald's, Tyson Foods, or Perdue Farms spent most of it's life stuffed in a cage with three or four others, occupying a space about the size of a book page...None for me, thanks...

A cordovan tab is the preferred finger release of almost all the top archers. Also regardless of your glove your finger should not be getting sore. Sore fingers mean you are not drawing the bow evenly and straight back.

E W bateman makes nice cordovan tabs
they have a website...not too expensive either.
I don't think they're a sponsor so I can't post an address..just google it.

Not sure which sponsors carry their products..it is nice to support the sponsors when ya can..

I prefer the ones with the finger separator and the leather loop.
I don't care for the elastic finger loop.
The leather loop lets you flip the tab over to the back of your hand when you're doing other things.

I use their # 2TCD

If you're asking about the tab I use it's about $15.
Last waaaaayyyy longer than the cheap hair tabs I often see.
