Hey guys, I just got a new coyote from stalker stickbows & I'm having some trouble getting the right spine arrows. The coyotes are cut 1/8" past center. My bow has both the longbow & static recurve limbs, both sets are 61# @ 30" I draw a bit more 64.5# @ my draw length.

I love to shoot Wood arrows and have to shoot 32.5" shafts prior to tapering. Anyway I like to  taper the the back of the shafts to 5/16".

In elk camp we did a quick calculation and came up with 105# spine with 145gr points. What do you think?

I have no personal experience with shooting wood arrows this stiff, but Black Widow has a spine calculator for wood arrows shot through its bows.  Their calculator comes up with a spine of 140# for your setup.  They start with a base spine of 1.2 X bow weight, and add factors for arrow length over 28" and point weight over 100 grains.

Te biggest factor in your case is arrow length. They recommend adding 15% more spine for each inch of arrow length over 28", which in your case is a whopping 67.5% increase in spine!

Firstarrow I am not a custom arrow builder but I would think that the longbow limbs and recurve limbs may need a different spine, I would start around 90-95 spine and verify bareshaft tune. Good luck.

I will say this, the Stalker bows are truly hard shooters and take an unusual high spine. Also if you find woood spine that high, go find a spine tester. Even in 23/64ths. I was told one time to get a dozen of shafts spined 100-105# you would have to go thru 10,000 shafts and still amy not get a dozen. If you need them 32" long than as McDave said I bet you need at least 120# spine of either sets of those limbs! Shawn

I think I shot 105-110 spine out of a 60@30 r/d bow pulled to 31.5". It was a non-acs Adcock. They were difficult to find, so I just settled on using the Arrow Dynamics Hammerheads.

With Surewood Shafts douglas fir getting 100lb plus shafts in 11/32" is possible. Just check with Steve or Bob at Surewood. I know they shipped out some the other day to a guy.
Shawn is correct that it takes a lot of shafts get a matched set in that high of spine weight.
Looking at your specs I'd go with the 100-105lb spine group. The tapering machine that Surewood and I use will put a great back taper on these for you.

FWIW... I shoot a 51 @ 28" Black Widow PSA. My draw is 27 3/4", I shoot a SBD skinny string, and my 11/32 Surewood douglas firs are spined at 80-85 shooting a 160 grain tip (The BOP for the shafts is 29") .   You're gonna need a pretty heavy spine.... Either contact Snag or the boys at Surewood for more (better) council.

Guys thanks for the advice I have some 85-90, 95-100, 100-105 samples coming from Steve @ surewood. I may have to try the higher spine.
