Folks,

I am gearing up for a winter project and would love some advice. I want to make my own wood arrows and have no idea what spine or length I should buy. I am thinking POC. Also, what tip weight would you recommend???

I have a 27.5 inch draw. I am currently shooting GT trads @ 29.25" with 175 on the tip.

Thanks!!!

You can't compare wood to carbon. Need to know what your bow specs are.

yep, need to know at least you draw weight and tip weight.

Even then..I'd still suggest getting some spine test arrows before throwing money at a doz.

the old school rule of thumb ...... arrow spine @ 28" ...... add 5lb for each additional inch of shaft ..... add 5 lb for broadhead ..... add 5 lb for FF string

at 27.5" if you are shooting a 60 lb bow with FF string . You would start with 60 lb spined arrows . No need to add for shaft length , add 5 lb for broadhead and 5 lb for FF . You would need 70 lb spine shafts

With that info I would say a 29" bop 60-65# spine with 125 grain point. Although those Big Jims are big performers, so a 65-70# may be required. My bud shoots one at 54#s and a 29" shaft he draws 28"s he shoots a 70-75# woodie with 125 up front. Snag may come along and have some input or Kelly Petersen is the best for that advise! Shawn
