new bow troubles

I just got a new bow but when I bare shaft the nock is consistently high. They hit the same as fletched shafts but they always hit the father nock high. Also, the bow seems loud so I ordered a SBD string for it thinking that may help. Anyone have some input. Its a 61# longbow shooting gold tip 55/75s. Theses arrows fly straight out of my other bow.

How is the nock fit on the string. I have found that to loose will cause consistent nock high.

Also try a dual nocking point if your not already to ensure the nock is not floating on the string.

I checked the nock fit. I'll need to get some more nocks to try twobut iI'll do that next.

Just use string to tie on the other nock point. If it works then you can glue it in place or put on the nock point you originally intended to buy. You may also be getting a nock high result if your nock point is to low because the arrow may be bouncing off the shelf.

OK, can someone give me some more ideas. I've tried two nocks on the string and have had it 1/8 to 7/8 high and I'm still getting nock high results. I can change my point weights and go under spined to over spined but I'm not able to change the nock high part. Frustrated.

Does a fletched arrow noticeably porpoise? I mainly worry about fishtailing when bare shafting.  I've had same experience as you and once spine is met, I shot  fletched arrows and adjusted nock height till arrow flew right and it's almost religiously at 5/8" for me and the bows I've owned. The bow isn't an ILF  rig is it, if so you might have to adjust the tiller.

I have issues with that if nocks are tight or if i am shootin high foc carbons. As long as there isnt movement while the shaft is flying and they hit with feathered shafts then its good.

Also, not having 2 nocking points and finger pressure/elbow height cam cause that issue.

If it is a coupla' inches high at 20 yds that's normal IMO. Often 'nock left' shows up as 'nock high' due to a canted bow when bareshafting. Or you could be torqueing the string on release? Bareshafts keep no secrets! LOL

Hi,, Just went through the same pain. New Toelke Lynx. No matter what I did nock high. Checked everything. Checked for tight nocks, played with brace height. I was using a CE heritage 150 with a 250g point, The bow is 51 lbs at my draw of 26 1/2. Arrows were 27 3/4. All charts and Stu's told me 150. Called Dan Toelke and this wise man told me I was too weak in spine. I tried a 250 CE with 250g up front and perfect flight at 3/8.

P.S I also added an SBD 8 strand

I have an SBD string on order, maybe that will help me out. As for as the shafts being under spined, if I had more or less weight up front they move left and right.

How's your form holding together, everything staying lined up?

I'm not an expert, but are your bareshaft and fletched arrows hitting in the same group? (and where you're aiming of course).  If so, I think you're good, IMHO.  
Also, shoot a fletched arrow from 25 or 30 yds and see if it porpoises, if not, your nock is pretty good I think.

Give it a day or two.  I've seen the same thing on occasion, usually just had to put it away for a few days and things come around.
