I've broken a couple of Nirk nocks lately. Today, almost causing a dry fire upon release. Ouch!!!

Are the Nirk prone to breakage?  Which nocks are best?

I've been using Nirk nocks for years and haven't had any trouble , but my stock of them is old stock .

Heavy bows and heavy arrows puts a big strain on nocks.  Had some Bemans go on me while experimenting with very heavy arrows and 80+ pound bow.  Owie is right

I've not had any issues with Nirk Nocks, either.  Is the string fit tight?  Check the valley closely for signs of cracking or crazing.  I've been using Bohning Classics for several years with no failures, but I'm not shooting heavy equipment and I keep my nock fit fairly light.

Yes, had a bunch break 7 or 8 years ago.  In cold weather break even more right at the throat.

A few years ago I also had a bad batch....I quit using them.

I got some arrows off St. Jude auction that required a glue on nock. I read a few bad reviews and decided to go a different route than the Nirk nock.

I just took all my Nirk nocks off and replaced them. Could have been much worse than it was, but that is about the 4th Nirk nock failure in 2 years. Sometimes they bust right when you put them on. TOday, I was not that lucky.

Bjorn

Mine have held up as good as any others.

Hot Hap

I have used a lot of them and the only ones I have had trouble with was the white ones. I have had a half dz. break on me. Hap

My experience has been the same as Hap. Only the white ones have ever broken. Other colors are still very strong after many years.
If it's in your way, move it.

I have used them for more than 10 years (mostly white) the only issue I had with them is that they do break on Robin Hood    ;)
They are the only one I use.

bicster

I bought a couple dozen last year and they were all breaking. I replaced the remaining ones on my arrows with a different nock.

Dale in Pa

Used them years ago,but switched because of breakage.

I have used Nirks for 20+ years and never broken one. Not sure how you manage to do that shooting traditional equipment.  Maybe it's the arrows you are using that are not fully seating against the nock (skinny arrows)???? Don't know....

Interesting. My nocks were white. Hmmmm.

I really like Bjorn or Marco Snap on nocks. Very tough and I can't remember the last time one of these nocks broke or cracked on me.

I could actually see the plastic was different in the white ones. I threw all of them away, and kept the other colors. No problems with them.

Just wanted to add my $.02 worth. I bought a couple dz. white Nirks about a month ago and so far have had 3 break. Each time coming to full draw and each time I thought the string broke. This is with a 40# recurve with a B-50 string and no modifications of the nocks, i.e. sanding, boiling etc. Bought them thru 3 Rivers so I called to ask if they had heard of any problems with them. Referred them to this forum as they had not had any complaints. They asked me to email pictures of the nock(s). Have not heard back yet.
