I shoot 3 under with a 29" draw, and am experiencing separations on my serving underneath the bottom part of my ring finger.  Is this an indication of bad form?  Happens with glove and tab.  60" and 62" R/D longbows. B50 and D10. High anchor and low anchor.  I use a deep hook and my elbow is inline with bow hand.

That is usually an indication of a loose or incorrect serving.

Strings were built by two different experienced string makers. With the 62" longbow I bought string directly from bowyer. The 60" string made by previous bow owner who I shoot with regularly.  His old strings do not wear like the new one.  His servings are still tight and strong.

And I thought I only had that problem. Same exact thing happens to me. I make my own strings and at first I thought I served in the wrong direction, but changing that did not make it any better. The odd thing to me is that it doesn't happen when I shoot split finger.

I really haven't come up with a good reason for it, but did notice that it happened quicker when I used more slippery stuff like Halo and found that regular No 4 Nylon serving held up the best.

I build my own strings and I had the same thing happen when I used halo serving on d-97. I found out that I wasn't getting the begging of my serving tight enough, I was always worried about getting the end good and tight. So I started getting the begging of the serving a little tighter and I haven't had the proem since.

Your serving is not tight enough. I shoot 3 under and never have any problems with loose servings. You have to set the server to be tighter. I want to feel strong tension when i'm serving a string.

SteveL

Tighter it is then. But I do get confused as to which direction I should serve the thread. I'm a righted shooter and normally hold the bow in my lap with the upper limb to my left and serve left to right. So do I start serving over the top or should I start serving under. Dang this confuses me!

Drewster

Steve, wrap your serving in the same direction as the string is twisted....simple :-)

X2 on what Drewster said. I always twist my brace height more than normal before serving so it makes the string smaller and then untwist to normal brace and my servings don't come loose any more.
