reducing draw weight of a longbow?

Unless I was just unable to locate it using the search function, could anyone post some names of the people who do weight reductions on bows?

I thought about having one reduced a few years back, and I am thinking about going through with it.

Is it fairly safe to do without too many failures? A glass bow is whating I am speaking of.

Who made it.....I have sent Great Northern and Northern Mist bows back right to the bowyer and they did a fantastic job and reasonable cost. I know Black Widow will also do a reduction on their product if it's possible. The bow Hospital wouldbe good also....I have heard good things.

I sent my longbow back to Great Plains for a weight reduction and it was a minimal cost. Doesn't hurt the bow but usually they can only drop the weight 3-5 pounds.

I would try the original bowyer first.  They would know best how much (if any) weight they can take off.  It sort of depends on how much they had to take off to get to the target poundage to begin with I would think.  I have had both Craig Ekin (Howard Hill Archery) and Steve Turay of Northern Mist reduce weight on bows they had made for me.  Both did excellent work.

It's a Dave Johnson Thunderbird, out of Linton, Indiana. He died in a plane crash a few years ago.

Really nice bow at 58 pound draw. I'm thinking of trying to get it to 51 pounds. Don't even know if it would be possible, or if I would spend the money it would take. Don't have any idea of the cost.

I have had John Rafferty from "The Bow Hospital" reduce the weight on one of my longbows and he did a great job. His work is very nice.
