Thanks Macbow! I noticed that LOZ is very developed and docks are everywhere. It must get pretty crazy on a hot summer weekend.

If it were me, I would look at Kansas. You get to hunt the the entire month of November with your bow. As a resident you can also hunt mulies in the western part of the state.

I'm just north of KC... almost between KC and St. Joseph and there is plenty of public land to use...  It usually isn't too crowded during archery season, but Katie bar the door when rifle season opens!  My brother routinely knocks down 135-150 inch deer each year at his place just south of St. Joe.  I'm 30 min east and have a little harder time finding the bigguns, but I do have some 135+ on the wall.  If you get out on the rural route, your neighbors will be your new best friends....  you can't find better folks than midwest farm folk.

Elko Nevada, Bought 2.5 acres on a mountain by Southfork Reservoir. Beautiful, no state income tax. I should be there in 4 years. I hope! Plenty of hunting. Resident bow hunters can draw tags pretty regular. Jacks and coyotes don't even need a license.
