Painting a bow camo

I have an older Bear Kodiak that is a nice shooter, but kinda rough to look at. Thinking about just hitting it with some Bohning Bowflange cans of paint I have (if they are still any good). I did a bow years ago and it was ok, but the handle area wore off real fast. My thoughts were making the paint easily removeable or easy to touch up. Not looking for fancy, maybe along the lines of the old factory camo ones...

There was a guy that camo painted a hunting chair and did a paint along thread, turned out pretty cool, he took some leaves from his yard and put them up to bow and spray painted around the leaf, kind of like a negative image so to speak, looked preetty good, you might try something like that

if you want your camo paint job to hold up, you need to spray a satin clear coat over it bro...

I had an early 90's Bear TD hunter that painted in ASAT pattern. I painted the entire bow in the golden "dead grass" paint, then I made card board stencils of the ASAT "branches" and used the brown and the black paint.  It came out really cool!!  I did a few friends wheelies like that.

I have a bunch of older cans of the Bohning Bow-Flage paint I was gonna go with because I know if I don't like it I can easily remove it. Any other spray paint you guys would recommend along with a clear coat???

Bohning used to make a paint remover that worked great.  I don't know if they still make it or not.

You know, "easy to remove" and "durable" are at opposite ends of the menu. I think I'd pick one and go with it but not try for both.

I did that some years ago, but when I tried to remove the "removable" paint, it would not come off without a tremendous amount of work (never did get all of it off). I am absolutely positive that I used the removable type paint. I'll never try it again.

All I want are shadows on my limbs.  I heavily wax mine first and don't rub it off.  Then spray over the wax coat with just light puffs almost like a fog so there aren't any shiny spots...but not trying to paint every inch.  I only spray my limbs and tape off riser and limb tips.  The paint will scratch off during hunting season some...but it is real easy to rub off with an old rag & hair dryer later.  That way you get the best of both worlds...camo that doesn't ruin the finish.   Plus if you ever want to sell the bow, the value will be higher with the original finish.  No problem for me to spray a high end bow.  Bill Dunn still cringes when I spray one of his Zippers             tippit

I just put camo face makeup on mine, comes of with a soft cloth, maybe a little rubbin alcohol, it does make a mess on stuff that it rubs up against, but it washes off that too.

I do just like Tippet does. Works great and comes off easy.

I once went to great lengths to camo my bows, especially my bright yellow osage selfbows.

One day I realized the camo was more for my sake than the deer's, they could care less. I quit messing up beautiful bows with paint and leaf patterns, killed my biggest buck at close range, off the ground, with a non camo bow and never painted another.

I have hunted with freshly made osage bows, bright as lemons, on numerous occasions and never been busted because of my bow.

Camo is vastly overrated.
