Modifying Shooting Glove

I've tried a few different gloves and could never find one I really liked. I thought I liked the American Leathers Big Shot,but they always felt too bulky. I like the regular old ones by Neet,but they would groove pretty bad and then didn't feel slick enough. This is what I came up with and it's working pretty good. I cut pieces of cordura and glued them on made it real slick. I would like to see more ideas that all of you have come up with to modify your gloves.

Well, I didn't modify anything but i found that a batters glove works better than any archery glove or tab I've tried. I began shooting bare finger and now that I shoot 65 pounds, I still need to FEEL the string.  A batters glove is very thin but provides enough protection that seems perfect for me.

I might have to try that Michael,sounds like a good idea. Hope your glove works out there Hobert. I guess not too many people change there gloves at all,not very many suggestions.

I would love to shoot a thin glove, but I shoot almost every day and need more protection.  (I'm a dentist and sore, stiff fingers aren't an option!)
My favorite glove is the black widow pdq super glove with the cordovan overlays.  I shoot split finger with virtually all of the weight on my middle and ring fingers, but with only light pressure on the index finger.  To feel the string better i cut off the overlay on just the index stall.  I can feel if I'm pinching the nock, and still protect the fingers that need it.

I'm with you...I like the Neet gloves with added leather to make it almost act as tab.

What kind of glue do you use to make the cordura stay?

I used the gorilla super glue and it worked good. It tends to soak in so the only pain was you had to sit there and hold it for a while until you thought it had set.

I also as mentioned above like to cut the very tip out of the index finger.

Rick I use thick viscosity super glue. I also use an accelerator to set the glue fast. I only glued around the outside. I have redone the glue a few times over 2 years of hunting. I don't use in the off season.

I added a pinkie finger stall to my Neet glove.  My ring finger was injured and the last joint doesn't bend.  I will add a pic soon.  I call the glove "Frankenstein", you will see why! LOL

Thanks Abe. I'm going to have to find some of the thick glue. Do they sell the glue and accelerator at hardware stores? I've had to re-do the middle finger a few times,but the others have stayed pretty good. I also only glued around the edge. The first time I didn't and it seeped all the way in,sort of ruined the glove.

Thanks, I spend  a lot of time in those hobby stores. Thinking about going over there right now and getting some cresting paint form Testors and giving that a try,never done it.
