We finally got some spring weather, so this morning was very nice. I got to a public hunting area (archery only) to watch the moon go down over the mountains...

The sunrise was nice, and I could hear some turkeys gobbling in the distance...

Yesterday, I had seen a group of about 30 birds, all on the wrong side of the fence, and tried to coax one of them over, but they were pretty well henned up, so I tried another area with the same results today. Guess which side of the fence the birds were on....

The morning was far from a bust, however. I saw at least 100 deer, both whitetails and mulies, several antelope, geese and ducks out the wazoo, and scenes like this...

I don't know if I will fill my turkey tag or not, but getting out with bow in hand is reward in and of itself. There are certainly worse places in the world to be....

Beautiful country to play around in.  Keep at it and enjoy every minute!!!!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I guess the view alone is worth the price of admission.
