Is there any good recipes out there?  I have some beeswax from the girls last year I need to put to good use.   I was thinking a toliet bowl ring and bw mixed maybe 5050?

katman

Do not remember the mix but do a search it has come up several times before.

Dan, I think your components are right but I don't remember the ratio. Contact LBR(Chad) and ask him. I think that is what he uses.

Dan,
That is the ratio I have always used.

Dan,
I like the mixture of 1# of beeswax and one toilet seal ring. If you throw in a small amount of pine pitch, you have a winning combination.

I've used beeswax, ring wax, and violin bow rosin. Works great but I can't remember the ratios.

I use 2-parts beeswax, 1-part ring wax. Just the right amount of tackiness for me.

Where does one acquire pine pitch. We don't have any live trees here.

I make mine with bees wax and pine sap. About 5:1 wax to sap or somewhere close. I'll get sap off a tree and form some fine metal screen into sort of a funnel shape and put in the top of a glass jar. Put the sap in the screen and set it in the oven at about 300 degrees and let it melt. The screen catches any bits of wood or bark. Then add it to melted bees wax. Very tacky string makers wax.

Pine pitch can be found on line. Just search pine pitch. I got mine from flea bay.

50/50? I'm not that good at math, but something is wrong with this three component ratio!
