" Arrow met the Deer"

It actually happened so very fast
But, in my mind it was quite clear
The day I loosed a wooden shaft
And the arrow met the deer
The little deer kicked so high
I thought he was part mule
He never knew what hit him though
This simple deadly tool
In a flash he was off and through the wood
The arrow buried to the fletch
I followed as long as I possibly could
Then lost him in a stretch
The minutes ticked and passed me by
A little while seemed like forever
The trail was plain and red to follow
The shaft the heart did sever
Upon the critter I finally came
I knelt and shed a tear
For the wonderful gift that came my way
When the arrow met the deer....TW
