Well my and my wife left Colorado for a week of visiting friends and family in the lowlands of Kansas and Oklahoma. We are not sure how to deal with the excessive oxygen we are experiencing. The symptoms we are experiencing are a mild euphoria and extra energy and pep. I've read a number or threads on here and other forums about dealing with hypoxia and high altitude and the advice was always to keep well hydrated and get plenty of rest so we have been trying to do the opposite of that hoping it would help. Staying up late, not drinking enough water and we still are full of energy, no headaches, nothing, we can pull our bows all day with no fatigue. Any of you flatlanders have some advice for us on how too deal with all this???

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

Review your taxes.  That should take some of your breath away!

Ooh no, that was great this year, got married last year and gained two dependents, one of which is in college, we got back three grand, now I know I have less disposable income but I didn't have to pay in extra. Made it seem better even though I know it wasn't:-)

Strange things have been known to happen in Kansas. Oklahoma great musical. Enjoy the ride!

For the past 4 years, we go live in Ecuador. So around 11,000 feet. When we came back home to the states to work we are in the Saint Lawrence valley  under 200 ft.  I never had a problem but then I took advantage of it when I excersized. I'd swim in the Grass river for a mile or sometimes 2  and never get winded or jogging, basketball ect.
The hard part for me was returning to the altitude after 3 months down below. I wouldn't have the sickness but winded easy till I got use to it again.  Try some cardio and if you are only down for a week or so you won't have a problem when you return as it takes a couple of months for your body to adapt to the diffrent altitudes.
With those going on elk , sheep or goat  hunts I can't imagine paying that much and getting to the higher altitudes and have to start right out wandering for any length or time. Make sure you excersize before cardio, cardio, cardio , and if possible acclimate a day or 2 if you can. Happy hunting

Drink plenty of beer and eat brats and cheese like we do in Wisconsin.  That will fix things right away.

Drop and give me 200 push ups. That should take the wind out of you.
