Hey guys.  I have a 64" longbow that I want to convert to a take-down.  I remember reading somewhere that these bows can be cut at the riser and either a sleeve or hinge can be inserted.  Does anybody know who does this?? Thanks in advance for the info.

I believe that Raptor Archery will install the bow bolt.

Check with Jim Belcher at the following:

If you have enough wood in the riser and the right type of wood, actionwood or dymondwood would probably be best, the Bow Bolt would probably be the way to go.

What kind of a bow is it? maybe you could trade for one that's made that way to begin with. Converting one can be tricky and expensive, from what I've read.

I have a pair of Super Shrews with the connexion hinge.  Works good for me.  I installed one myself.  You need to be pretty nervy to take a table saw to a perfectly good bow but you can't make a one piece into a two piece until you scrape up all of your courage into a little pile and push the wood into the blade.  I did a practice install on a cheaper bow to build up my confidence.  You must come to grips with the fact you may end up with two pieces of kindling.  Good luck.
