That idea about golf club handle wraps is terrific!  Now I just have to go sneaking around the local golf course and find some unattended clubs!  I've been using the double-sided carpet tape (blue role and very thin). I attach it to whatever I want to stick on my bow -- arrow holders, shelf or plate material, etc.)

Seriously, I recently removed a thin leather shelf job and it left behind hard glue residue. I can't rub it off. I'm afraid to use Acetone for fear of damaging the riser finish (wood Morrison).

I want it off because I'm using an elevated rest on this riser.

bowwild,

I used Acetone on my Leon Stewart's fancy finish to remove leftover glue residue from removing the old rest ( my hand was actually shaking while I did it,LOL ) with no problems at all. I have since used it on other bows to remove glue residue and have never experienced any damage to the finishes.

  • Leon Stewart 3pc. 64" R/D 51# @ 27"
  • Gordy Morey 2pc. 68" R/D 55# @ 28"
  • Hoyt Pro Medalist, 70" 42# @ 28" (1963)
  • Bear Tamerlane 66" 30# @ 28" (1966)- for my better half
  • Bear Kodiak 60" 47# @ 28"(1965)

Leather, I agree with Barge, but the best rest material I have found is Industrial Velcro, last forever and is very quiet. Shawn

Thanks njloco!  I'll give it a try. I treat it like Brylcream ("a little dab'l do ya").

I have used this type of glue for rests and other items and it works great. Best part is it peels right off when you want it to.

Also use goo-gone to remove glue residue if you are worried about acetone. Works great and maybe safer for your finish..Henry
