Carbon arrow question….

For starters, I do not have a lot of experience setting/tuning traditional bows. I do however, have ton`s of experience setting up wheel bows, making strings, building arrows, etc.

With the wheel bows, one thing that was crystal clear was.....while Gold Tip arrows perform exceptionally well, they were always much more finicky, and had a much smaller window of good operation when changing tip weight, draw weight, etc. than the Easton or Beman arrows.

From my limited experience with the recurves I now shoot, this past experience with Gold Tips seems to be carrying over. It took me a lot of playing with arrow length and tip weight to get GT`s to fly well for me.

Today I made up some Beman Classic .340`s @ 31". So far I have shot them with 175, 200, and 225 grain points, and they all fly like they are on a rope.

Has anyone else had the same issue with the Gold Tips being tougher to find a combination that works than other carbons?

The beamans being less diameter operate closer to center shot so would be more tolerant to point weight changes. Gold tips tune fine for me.
