Im considering a morrison 13" metal riser.  Looking for opinions on how it shoots, what length of limb you are using, and what pound limb to make a 43# bow.

lad

do not have a 13". But do have 15" and 17" very nice riser. Perfect workmanship and parts kits.

It's my preferred hog and travel hunting bow as I like a thin grip short riser and need ability to mount hog light now legal in SC. If you go with Morrison limbs, the weight is whatever is marked on the limb on all of his risers 13 to 21 inches. Other limbs need to be calculated so best to contact maker or post question here...tippit

Jeff,  what grip do you have there ?  I'm wanting a nice low grip for mine.

Rick Richard

Bob Morrison sells the Jaeger grip, which looks like what is on this riser.  I really really like my low grip Jaeger

Thanks for the info, nice looking hog rig. I was told limbs rated on a 25" riser would gain 8 to 10 lbs on these risers.

It is the low Jaeger grip.  Really rock solid in locating your hand.  Limbs vary from each maker.  I have Morrison & Dryad limbs in longbow & recurve but I don't shoot the recurves anymore.

Newbie question: do you shoot off the shelf with a metal riser, or do you have to use a rest and plunger?
Morrison 17" ILF riser w/ "long" foam core recurve limbs. 47# @ 28"
Morrison 15" metal riser w/ "Short" Max1 limbs. 45# @ 27"
Toelke Whip HS TD 58", 47# @ 28"
Martin Hatfield TD. 55# @ 28"

Many use a plunger style, some stick on flipper rests, and yes, if you put a pad on the shelf (hook side of velcro for instance) you can shoot off the shelf.

I use a springy plunger style on mine.

Rick Richard

The morrison risers come with a ramp on the shelf and two holes in the riser. If you shoot off the shelf(ramp) you have the option of using a plunger or you can add material to build out to the desired center.

As mentioned, you can add an elevated rest and use the upper hole with a plunger or you can just use a springy rest.

Lots of options and many ways to tune.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know.
