Woods that get better with age.

Curious what woods gain character and get a richer color with age, under today's finishes.

I have a Mrytle riser and I swear it's getting a deeper more caramel color with time.

Osage has to be one, if not my favorite, wood. Very yellow at first but after a few years...beautiful honey!

Yew will darken over time and is very beautiful.

Cherry get real nice with age.

Here's a pic of two bows I made with cherry under clear glass.  The one on the left was made in 2009 and the one on the right was made in 2012.

Most woods darken with age except walnut, look at your hardwood floor, pull the throw back that has been there for years.  Keep your bow out of the sun, but then you are not shooting it.

That is quite a change in just 3 yrs time. Nice.

I do realize all woods age with time depending on the amount of exposure to day light. For some reason I was thinking with todays finishes the natural aging, or color change would be slowed down quite a bit, maybe that's not the case.
