Has anyone owned/shot both a Whip and a Holm Made Osprey?  I'm interested in this style of bow but have not been able to get my hands on either.  How do the grips and shooting characteristics compare?  Thanks, Eric.

Moots

I used to own a Toelke Whip.  It was a good shooting bow -- smooth and accurate.

Thanks, Moots.  Did it have the thumb rest or the classic grip?  I've been shooting a recurve but just sold my old wheelie bow and want to give a longbow a try.

I have an Osprey and it's on of my favorites, you can get it with or with out a thumb rest!

I have never shot an Osprey, but there is a two piece Whip in the classifieds that I'd buy if I were you and you can handle the poundage

58" TS Mag, 53#s @ 26"
56" Bighorn, 46#s @ 26.5"

I owned a Whip And did not like the thumb rest.
I think the classic would be great as it was a super smooth and fast bow.

Crash

I've shot both.  I think the speed is going to be very comparable, both shoot with little to no handshock, both have excellent craftsmanship, I would give the nod to the Whip as being quieter.  As to the handle, you can get them in different configurations and I preferred not having the thumbrest.  Going to be hard to decide which to get, but the good part is, they are both excellent bows and you really can't go wrong with either one.  My personal preference would be the Classic Whip.

Thanks guys.  I haven't heard a negative word about either bow.  I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes on the classified.  Some nice Whips on there now, just not my specs.  Ospreys seem to be as rare as hens teeth, though.

I have owned both, osprey and whip, both guys are easy to deal with, the whip is faster lb for lb (my bows anyway) the whip is new to me, a month old maybe. I think you would like either.  Chad's bows are a little less money than Dans. When I got the osprey it really worked for me, then it stopped so I sold to. Could have just kept it and been happy, just wanted to try other bows. I did not, do not, notice any hand shock, both were, are, a pleasure to shoot. The osprey has wider, flatter lombs than the whip, whip is fatter and narrower. Good coulple of bows to be down to. Dan seems to have an occasional demo bow, I'm sure chad does to, just call him, or email, they both use email-nice huh!

I own the 64" Osprey (now Goshawk).  It has absolutely no hand shock, and excellent cast.  Sorry, I can't make a comparison.

Thanks guys, this is the kind of info. I was looking for.  Sounds like I can't go wrong.

I have a classic whip and it is currently #1 of a large stable.
