hey guys, i'm looking for a vac packer that i can take with me on weekend hunts. i want to be able to vac pack football sized chunks so i can throw them in the ice box, this way they won't get waterlogged etc. when in camp i just want to break down the animal roughly, bag it then throw it in the icebox. this will keep it for upto a week. when i get it home i can cut it up and pack it properly.

it would be good if it can run off mains power for at home and 12v for when it's in hunting camp at the ute. this would be a great setup for me for bringing goat and venison home.

does anyone else do something similar and know which packer suits me?

Why not just get a power supply-converter thing for your truck thats goes in cigarette lighter plug-and use a Foodsaver machine?

Sportsmans Guide sells the converters for vehicles relatively I expensively and even have FS at times Clint

Also for pack-ability you might give the manual ones a try, cheep and no power needed.

Ziploc sales a manual pump that goes with their brand of vacuum bags, I was looking at the cost basis and their bags are fairly cheaper than the roll material anyway. They sale them at the biggest chain store. Had too edit this post, didn't look to see where you live. Biggest chain store comment might be lost on you. Ziploc brand sales a manual pump, Reynolds brand sales a battery o operated unit and there are a few others, not sure what brands cross the pond!

I use a Foodsaver and a power inverter.
