Hey Gang;

I just ordered a new cheyenne from Bob Morrison. It's 62" and 50# @ 28". My draw is 28" and I would appreciate some opinions on sitka spruce and also a carbon arrow setup as well. I have a good amount of 125 grain woodsman elite screw-on's that I would like to use so I'm thinking of using 50 or 100 grain brass inserts. I also like to foot my 11/32 wood shafts with 2413 aluminum and inserts so screw on's will work with both setups.

Thanks

I would go with a 55-60# Douglas Fir shaft with those heads.

Not the cheapest option,  but Beman MFX Classics with the 75 gr brass insert and about 1" of aluminum footing (2020 if I remember right)  would lend itself well to a 125 screw in head. Would be darn near indestructible as well.  Probably 500 spine for your set up....cut to roughly 29.5"

With Sitka spruce and the set up your talking about its going to take 65-70 at least maybe even 70-75.

I had a 50# Cheyenne-great bow!! I shoot POC and Doug Fir, as I recall the bow liked a 65-70 with a 125 go head Sitka Spruce should be the same.

I have two Hoyt Buffalo bows that have the same specs as your new bow. I am shooting Beman MFX 500 arrows with 100 grain brass inserts and 125 grain heads. This setup shoots bullet holes through paper. I bare shafted the arrows first to length before I fletched and shot them through paper. My draw is 28". Enjoy the new bow!!

What was your length on those Beman MFX 500's?

Gold Tip Trad 5575's with a 50 or 100 grain insert would probably be close if left full length. Otherwise 3555 trimed down a bit would get you there as well(I think)

I would agree with the above as it is pretty similar to my setup, except my draw length is relatively shorter. See my signature below.
