Someone gave me a quart jar of molasses and I am wanting to know what to mix with it so I can yield a gallon or so. Since I'm not a molasses lover and my deer are, I figured this would be a great Thanksgiving gift for them. I have done this before cutting it with water but was curious if any other ingredients could be or should be used. I have a stump I have been pouring over for a few years now, usually the store bought "Stump Lickers" but like to give out the good stuff when I have it. Any suggestions?

Put some vanilla in with it and add water.

Corn syrup or apple juice have both worked well for me.

buckeye_hunter

Mix it with some cider and pour over some shelled corn.

I was wondering about this myself. A friend gave me a 5 gallen bucketfull. I thought about pouring it on a log with my trail camera aimed at it to see what would happen.RC

They will smell that sulfur a mile away.I would work it in with the corn, and use it lightly and let it just coat the corn so you can have some for the next batch.

I have used it for years and add the corn and then over a mineral lick. The deer love it.

I buy dried molasis in the 50lb bags at the feed store for the purpose of mixing it with my homemade mineral. I mix it in an electric cement mixer that I purchased for that reason in order for the deer to get more mineral intake. Word of caution, the calcium/phos ratio should be a 2/1 mixture like you feed goats. Any feed specialist out there.
Never tried to feed them straight molasis, I always try to benifit the herd.
