arrow fletchings

Getting ready to fletch up some arrows and wanted some advice.  Are there any negative effects to having your fletchings all the way back to the end of the shaft where the nock fits on?   I'm wanting to use the feather on my nose as an anchor and I think it will help

No problem unless they are so far back you crush them with your fingers... and that would make game spooking noise if you are hunting with them

You might not need to put them that far back to be able to touch them with your nose. I started using the feather to nose as a reference, or anchor, and have a bit more that an inch from the end of the feather to the end of the shaft. It depends on your feather shape and your nose shape and a lot of other variables.

If you put them ALL the way to the back your fingers will probably be bumping them a lot, making noise, etc.

As said - nose and finger clearance.  I set mine about 3/8" ahead of the nock taper shoulder/nock lip.
