Im thinking of purchasing a PSE Kingfisher recurve for bowfishing. I have been using my vintage K-Mag the last few years with a drum. I do not want it to get beat up. Does any one out there use the King fisher. I would like to mount a AMS retriever to it.

To be honest you might be better off with the Samick line      that 3rivers sells they're all set up for sights and plunger rest I believe. You will end up with a more versatile and durable bow for close to the same money.

I would buy a bow of the classifieds or try the Samick line before I would shoot a Kingfisher again.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

I had a PSE Kingfisher and thought it shot fairly well.  It seems perfectly suited for bowfishing considering its metal riser, fiberglass limbs and what appears to be some kind of coating on the limbs to protect it when it gets wet or banged up in a boat.  I later gave it to a friend of mine and he loves it.

With that said, I found the Kingfisher to be somewhat heavy in my hand compared to my longbow and Samick Sage recurve.  I also found it to be kind of loud with a bit of hand vibration compared to my other bows.  Otherwise, I think it should work well for bowfishing.

Kingfisher works fine.  I had one and it killed fish dead like Raid.  I'm ROUGH on my bowfishing gear and it survived mdny years on the water with me.

HOWEVER....

It don't float.  That's why I now have a GameMaster 2 as my fish rig.

I have a Kingfisher and it does work well for what it's meant to do. And if I dumped it in the water, I wouldn't be too upset except that my AMS retriever is attached to it. The grip is lousy but a few wraps of tennis racket tape makes it a little more comfortable.

It'll do the job, no doubt. But after shooting, well, any other bow you're going to be unimpressed & disappointed. They're heavy, painfully slow & 'flabby', the grip is foul & the fiberglass limbs twist like noodles at the drop of a hat.
For the same price, you could pick up an old Bear, Pearson, Shakespeare etc...... that would be far better. Don't be afraid to have at it with a drill for any inserts you may need.

Thanks guys, thats the input I was looking for. May just put some limb skins on the K-Mag to protect them and maybe put some inserts on for the AMS. Can usually pick up another K-Mag on the tradgang classifieds for under $200.00. I have a Great Northern strap on mnt. for the AMS Retriever but I find that it is very wobbly, that is why I have been using a drum. Will look into a Samick. Thanks again
