Hi gang.I own a selfbow that probably shoots in excess of a 100#.I know that because when a friend(towerclimber) brought his Hill style 102# bow I managed to draw it at my full draw27" a few times. My selfbow on the other hand I will be lucky to pull it 22"...It is a beast.
Well I am thinking..if I leave it strung for a few days will it loose  few pounds?Or should I send it to a professional bowyer and save some pounds of the limbs?

I would send it to someone to take some weight off. Leaving it strung will just add set.

My suggestion would be to find someone,in your area that makes self bows and have them reduce the weight .
That is if your not wanting to learn yourself.
Just sanding with medium weight sandpaper would do it, but a scraper would be faster depending on what your looking for.
Most important is to pay attention to,tiller and,not remove too much in one spot.

Yeah, don't leave it strung, just have someone shave it down to where you want it, or do it yourself.
