I like it around 17-20' but I'm in my early 60's now and I have a Marc Anthony ghillie so I have 2 incentives to stay on the ground.   Much more versatile after you get accustomed to it.

Axis Thinner

10 to 12 ft is plenty if you have some cover. Also you have to have the correct wind. No way around the wind. Most important to me, personally, is the shot angle. The higher you go, the greater the difficulty of making an ethical shot. As hunters, we owe it to the animal to do our best, and that means double lung, and hopefully, the heart. Try different heights shooting  at your 3D target and find out what will work. Once you know your limits, you will know in your heart when to let him walk, or when to let the arrow do its job.

Thanks guys I like to be 12 to15 feet. I like that angle.

Green Mountain Boy

12-20 depending on the lay of the land
That's why they call it hunting....

No Name 50# at 28" (maybe Ben Pearson)
'69 Bear Grizzly 40# at 28"
Great Plains Wolf Creek  50# at 28" one piece
Fruit of the Loom Size Large

I am very happy between 12 - 15'.  Above that I do not care for the shot angle.  Besides 15' and under feels safe to me!

I'm usually around 15 ft up,  a few years back we found a stand on a friends property (he lets his other friends hunt there so it was one of theirs) and the thing was 30ft up...Holy cow that is a long ways up!
