Hunting Boot

Hi all,

I have read some posts about good, warm boots and was wondering if anyone knew how good Baffin boots are. I have really wide feet and they get cold quickly.

How cold do your winter hunts get? I have the same problem, and I went thru a ton of boots before I figured out a solution for me. My winter boots are ordered a full size bigger than normal so my blood flow isn't restricted. I wear a thin liner sock and then a light to medium weight smart wool (or similar) sock over that. If it gets really cold and I am sitting still I wear some pullover fleece (similar to icebreakers) and maybe a hand warmer in each. I can stay warm with Muck rubber boots with this system. Before, I tried sorrel PAC boots rated to -20 and my feet still froze in 20 degree weather. Good luck to you in your quest for warm feet!

I bought some Irish Setter 1200gram leather insulate boots, had kept me pretty warm in the Iowa winter that was very mild last year.

Check out mukluks and camuks. Just got me a pair and they feel like I'm walking around in socks! I haven't hunted them in extreme cold yet, but I think they'll perform well. There is also a YouTube review on them.

I guess I am a lucky one because my feet never get cold to the pint of being unbearable. I believe you need to have plenty of room and wear wool socks as mentioned. Believe it or not, but all I wear are unisulated Lacrosse Burly boots wherever I hunt including late season in Illinois.

X2 for Lacrosse, I wear Alpha Burlys with 1200 grams of thinsulate along with thin to medium Darn Tough socks. I have big feet (13) and most sock brands are pretty tight. Darn Tough has a little extra material so it isn't all stretched out and seems to hold the heat better. I like the rubber boot because I can go through whatever I want to just by hiking my pant legs up and letting them rest on the top of the boot.
