Folks,

I have $100 gift certificate to Bass Pro burning a hole in my pocket and am thinking about putting it toward a Bear Montana. The only longbow I own are ones I made from red oak, and I would like to see if the longbow is for me.

What do you all think of this bow. With the gift certificate do you think it would be worth my time picking one up? Thanks for your advice!

I would ask them to see if I could shoot it before I bought it. I bought one just off of reviews and got lucky in that I do like it. It is now my bowfishing bows. However I do not recommend you buy it like I did without shooting it first.

They are a decent bow for the money. I would concur with James Kerr; try it before buying if that is possible. I had one a few years back, and I enjoyed shooting it and killed a deer with it.

I have had 2 of them a 50# and a 55#, both shot well and were very well mannered. I would still have them if I hadn't dropped down in poundage!

I just bought my Bear Montana yesterday from Cabelas. If Bass Pro has a range and you can shoot it, you will probably like it.

My suggestion would be to shoot one first to verify that the nice Montana meets your personal expectations. Then procure one from the classifieds.

You will likely have your $100 gift certificate and a Montana.

Now what to do with the $100????

Buy your bow from 3 rivers archery. If you don't like it within 30 days, you can return it. Then buy your arrow with the $100.00  gift certificate.

You walk out the door at Bass pro shop, and you own it. They have a no return policy with archery equipment.
