First try at Cresting Carbons...

Hi there,

tried cresting for the first time and though they arent perfect wanted to show them.

Story behing this: A good friend of mine whome i owe a lot wanted to get into Trad archery and for his birthday i gave him a bow. With this bow of course he needed some arrows. Cheap old Powerflights amde up to his specs. 6 of em plain for first amunition but the other 6 i wanted to make a bit more special.

Well, cresting jig was a powerdrill and a coke bottle with a hole in the cap. A Scale and a more sturdy jig will definately make it easier to have excact and identical crestings.    :rolleyes:

very nice! i like how it makes your arrow pop without full dip or wrap witch adds weight if you already got your arrows tuned. can you tell me what paints you use and what you put over the crest to keep them from smearing? thanks

They look pretty darn nice for your first ones.  You obviously have some talent to work with.  Keep at it!!!

I can but i fear it will help you none as it was German brands      

It was "email-color" (nothing to do with electronic letters) from revel and some artificial resin laquer.

I did all crestings, let dra for 24 hours and painted a coat of the laquer on there, draing for another 24 and fletched.

thats okay, so you put a lacquer over the crest. i have never done it before. do you use a commercially made arrow spinner or self-made one?

Wow, those look great!
Good way to make carbon arrows look much nicer instead of factory made. I don't like the decals and brands stuck all over my shafts...looks like an advertisement.

I'm gonna have to try cresting some of mine. I always take the decals off at least.
