I have been looking at new broad heads(cut on contact).  I like the simmons but it seems they don't make field tips in all the grns that the broad heads are.
How much of a difference will flight be if I was practicing with a 175grn field tip and changed to a 165 grn point?

You likely won't notice any difference at the ranges we normally shoot at ie. less than 30 yards.

I buy the heaver points and cut them down to weight with a dremel. Probably not necessary but, it's easy.

Check out Braveheart Archery.  Good selection of weights and lightning fast shipping.

Probably not a noticeable difference but if you are anal about it like me you can buy the 5gr brass washers. My broadheads are 150gr so I use a 145gr field point and 1-5gr brass washer.

Just noticed you field points are heavier than your broadhead. In that case you can take your field point and take a little off on a bench grinder till the weights match.

Does that change the balance on your broad head?

I am shooting 125 grain field points and thinking of trying a Simmons broad head.  They have a 135 glue on head.  Removing 10 grains from the broad head is an option I had not considered.  That might work for me.

I'm not 100% sure but I think he was talking about taking weight off of heavier field points to make them match the broadheads.

If this is correct then you could get those and use the 5gr brass washers to get an exact weight match.

That was my thought was to use washers to increase weight if needed.  My question is where do you find the washers that are small and have a big enough opening.  I would think they are sort of custom or hard to find?
