Here's the target I use in my basement.

I don't really have a backdrop, and shoot about 15 yards if I remember right.  (I haven't shot inside since the weather got good outside.)  The ethafoam works fantastic.  For another outside target, I just made a goofy-looking ethafoam animal yesterday out of old leftover foam that I glued and stuck together like tinker-toys with bits of bent arrows.  It breaks up the monotony, I guess...

But a good indoor setup is nice in bad weather, and my wife is OK with it.  BUT, my 5-year old shot a hole in the wall behind it right away, and she only shoots outdoors now!
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

I set up a Block on the bed in my room and shoot from the far wall of the living room. But, I am not married.

TJ,do you recall what material you used to replace the front face ?

                 Thanks

This looks like a good project if a fella could scrounge up the right materials.

Pat, it was a piece of the same material the guys that made it gave me. I have kept it all these years and just this past fall put it on. I am not sure what it is. Its a weave of synthetic material. The weaves are fairly large and it heals up after you pull a shaft out. I'll do some poking around on the internet and see if I can find something that I think it may be.

Ah, I got you...  I was thinking that you had purchased the new face recently.

I go through way too many targets.. Have used them all over the years.. Did have a compressed carboard butt that held up fairly well but have tried to duplicate it and the carboard sheeting I can get now won't hold up at all.. Had this in the barn, out of the weather..

Sure do appreciate you reply !!!

Even with a lesser material you could build a similar target. Its the stuff that is stuffed in between the 6x6's that stops the arrow. Very easy to pull as well. Just a fantastic target.

If you have ever seen one of the white feed bags that has the weaved look this stuff is like that but much more rigid. Sorry I can't explain it any better.

I use a similar filler material as what Tom describes and I get it from a local sleeping bag company.  It is the filler in their bags.  They are some very high end bags and they sell the cutoffs from the filler.

it is a synthetic material that will take more shots than a bow can deliver.  It is also what the local club uses in their targets...great stuff!

I have a range in the walk-out level of my house. I can get a 13 yard shot.

Since this picture was taken the exercise equipment on the right and left have been moved to my son's house so I have a littler less cluttered view of my targets.

The big dark grey butt to the left of the target butt I shoot guards a 4 foot high window that I don't want to pay for twice -- I've never hit this foam guard or the window -- just insurance. Because if the eye wanders, so will the arrow!

When I'm tuning I move the deer target away and bring the paper frame rig out front (seen in the close-up picture on the left).

The bow pictured isn't mine but is the LH pass around that's moving from person to person.
