Homemade Broadhead Target Advice

Anybody have any suggestions on constructing a homemade broadhead target?

Since getting into traditional archery 9 months ago, I find that I am practicing a lot more with my broadheads than ever before.  In fact I'm pretty much practicing every day, at least 20 to 30 shots with broadheads.  

My Rhinehart is really starting to show some wear, lots of black foam coming out now.  I was wondering if anyone had any homemade broadhead target ideas that might enable me to avoid spending a couple hundred bucks a year on store bought targets.

A pile of sand is about the only thing I have found that will take the abuse daily.

Make some cardboard animal shapes and stick 'em upright with garden stakes in front of the sand back-stop...

Love the sand pit idea but don't think the wifey will approve LOL.  My current project is the turkey decoy filled w/ Gap filler.  Was sick 2 days at home so plenty of time. Letting it cure for a good week before trying it out.

Jayb:  I saw a guy that was using a type of spray foam for targets and it seemed promising.  How many cans of Gap Filler to fill up your Turkey Decoy.

Sand pits work great! Tip: Cut out some silhouettes of small deer, groundhogs and use old arrows or dowels to stand them in front of the sand pit. Shoot right through them into the sand.

Better tip: Use an old arrow shaft to hold up a small paper cup. Put it several feet out in front of the sand pit. The 'suspended' cup really causes you to focus on the target. You can accomplish the same thing with a wire/vinyl marking flag like utilities use to mark underground lines.

A simple target on sand pits is to suspend a wire across the pit and hang small balls from it.

McClintock i used 1 can of the blue gap filer and just a little of the good black big gap filer.  I shot it today still needs to cure but now has 3 holes to air it out more.

A sand pit is the only thing that will take it for any length of time.

The spray can foam shoot through pretty quick. I had a 2 ft square foam pack for shipping cold stuff, (wife brough home from work) very hard foam, filled it with I dont know how many cans of foam.

Shoot through it in a couple days.

2 blade arent as bad, but 3-4 blades just eat stuff up.

I plan on making a sand pit like shown, but on a raised bed.

The sweet spot will be about the height of deer/elk vitals.

I dont know where you live in Oklahoma, but Trosper got a whole semi load of big foam blocks donated, and they still have a bunch left that you can get for free, I shrink wrapped up a couple of them and put cardboard in between and in front and you can shoot them a bunch .
