I love the look of skins on the limbs, but I don't trust myself to do it.  Is there anyone that you can send the bow in and have it done?  If so, do they need the whole bow or just limbs?

Thanks

huntmaster80

BOB Morrison is awesome at skinning limbs.  I would think he just needs the limbs, but not sure on that one

Craig

I would say he just needs the limbs. What make bow do you have? Maybe the bowyer puts on skins that you could call. If not, like huntmaster80 said Bob Morrison is the man to do it.

Bill Dunn at    zipperbows    can do it also. I have one of both Bob's and Bill's and they are both fantastic works.

Bob Morrison did mine back in February . He's great at what he does. I just sent him the skins and my limbs

Dirtybird

Bob Morrison is the master. Bust send him the limbs and you'll be excited with the results.

KumaSan

Bob Morrison does beautiful work. If you have the skins, just send them to him with the limbs. If you don't have the skins, send the limbs and riser and let him make the recommendation on the skins. He's a master at selecting the best skin for a finished color that will best match your bow.He usually has a decent selection to choose from.

The bow is a Chekmate Hunter II so sending it to the bowyer is not an option (I guess he is MIA).

What is the price range for skinning a set of limbs. I have a predator and I love the look of snake skins on a bow!

It's really simple to do yourself. Cost would be about $60.00 if you do it yourself.  Morrison charges $100.00 with your own skins. That is own a bow you buy from Bob. Probably more on your limbs because he has to prepare the limbs.

Any links to instructions or videos on how to do it?

huntmaster80

check the how-to or build along forum.  skip the super glue over top of the skins. jm2c

Bob is the best.  But its not hard to do it yourself.

As stated above, Bob is the Master, no question. As in anything, you want the best you pay for it.
You can do it yourself, but you can also paint your own Mona Lisa which one do you want to look at - your's or the masters? Thats the $300.00 question.

I'm with David. For $40-60 have someone do it professionally. If you are gonna DYI do your buddies first. Hehe.

I've done a few myself and now any limbs I want done get sent to Bob.  His work is simply amazing.

I also had Dave Windauer do several sets for me.  His work is awesome too.

LOL, I guess I'll let you know how tough it is to DIY! I've read all the tutorials I can find and it doesn't appear to be brain surgery to me. Got a set of skins on the way for my Omega....
If you find yourself in a fair fight? Your tactics suck!

Craig

Use tite bond 2 or what ever the new tite bond is out there to glue them on. I then use true oil The more coates you put on the more it looks like they are under glass. When I'm finished with the true oil I spray them with Deft satin finish to take the shine off from the true oil. I spray them once a year after that just to keep them in excellant shape. Just don't be in a hurry. Let the glue dry for 24hrs.
