After what seemed like a very long and agonizing 4 weeks my MAII finally made it back home today. What I took down was a green colored greybark late 80's bow with a few dings, dents and places in glass from stress. What I got back is an actual grey colored greybark ( yes Vernon told me it would be) frost finished bow with new inserts and bezels, machined for current limbs, down right good looking bow. What everyone was telling me is definately true what I got back looks like a new bow. Now I'll admit I kinda miss the green color, it was unique looking but I doubt the way it looks now will cause me any lost sleep. So in short if anyone asks, as I did, is it worth it to have one redone the answer will be YES! Now if I can figure out how posting pics works I'll see if I can get before and after pics on here this weekend.

I'd like to see the before and after pics.  I'm sure the guys at BW did an exceptional job.

I sent one back to them also. Incredible how it comes back, brand new bow. Worth every penny.

The New! Still has old bolts in it, so new ones and strike plate is next, but it looks alot better for sure.

They do great work. Had them do that to my old SAIII. Like getting a brand new bow.

Funny that was kinda my original intention have it redone and sell it. I haven't shot it yet after getting it back so I still might sell it don't know yet.

Thumper I am exactly in the same space as you.
Expecting my old MA back shortly and wonder if I too will miss the old, chipped greeny faded gray, sweat enriched patina that was locked into that bows memory.
Word has it that the Widow boys work miracles and it will have a newer feel to it, though the memories will always be etched in this old shooters mind

The widow workers do a super job. Had more than a few redone by them and you get a "as new" bow back when the're done. Just packing up a new challenge for them, a Kempf Kwyk Styk. Looking forward to seeing that one with that bullet proof Widow frost finish on it

Arrowang,
Yeah I thought the green was unique, but after getting it back and seeing the kind of work they did I won't miss the green color for long. When I dropped mine off Vernon thought the grip was almost like the Abell grip. I have never held an Asbell grip so I took his word for it. Either way that was the one thing I didn't want to mess with. When I get the new bolts and strike plate and do some shooting I'm sure there'll be a big smile on my face.

I traded for a late 80's MAII recently. It has that greenish tint also.

Your bow turned out great. Was there any weight change in the re-finishing process?

thumper15

Sorry it took me this long to respond bretto. As far as physical weight of the bow, ah maybe a few ounces. But, not enough to make a big difference as they only take off like a 1/16" here and there if that. The contour of the riser still looks the same I can tell where they took it off as far as visually in profile but nothing that drastically changed the shape of it.
