I tried today to treat some feathers, did not work too great.  how much do you want to spray? (mist, spray coat, soak) I used 3-in-1 professional, is this an ok product to use?

anything else to help.

I sprayed mine until they are covered and let it dry for a day or so. It works fine for me.

You may want to try the products used by the fly fishermen,(Dri-Tite,Water Shed).
If it works completly in the water it will work on your feathers,it does for me.

I have used Scothguard. i just spray it on and then let it dry overnight. It works pretty good but if they really get wet, they still lay down.

I use "camp dry" I mist it on and let it dry for a couple hours and then do it again.

Do these products allow the arrow to naturally compress down when shooting over the shelf or do they make the feathers stiff to the point that they resist collapsing?

I've used a silicone spray for shoes I got at Payless Shoe store. Seems to be the same as fly dry stuff but less expensive.
LE Carroll, I haven't noticed any difference in the feather except that it repels water. Feel is the same, flight is the same.

Tim,
I use food grade silicone, big difference. I sent you an email.

Camp Dry is what I use. This year, I'm looking into food grade silicone just for experimentation purposes.

I STILL  use unscented hair spray  CHEAP keeps the feathers dry A LOOOONG TIME !          Easy to re spray if they  lose a touch of  water proofing .

That is what I use also and believe it works about the best from what I have tried.

Silicon is fine, but it smells at least for a few days. The Atsko brush on silicon was real good. I have also used hairspray effectively, but once again, it may smell for a while.

I have never felt the need to waterproof my feathers. I even shot feathers in my compound days and have hunted and shot competitions in the rain with no visible effects.

This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

The camp dry does make them a little stiffer but I do not notice any problem when shooting them. I use it on my arrows that I use for Gators. The last one was under water for 40 minutes while I was working my gator in. The feathers on that arrow were still fine and not matted down. I could have shot it again with out any problems.
