I've decided to go on a deer hunt in the lower 48 the first part of November. I'm not interested in trophy bucks, just a decent one with a good amount of meat (big deer). I don't want an expensive, all inclusive guided hunt, just a modest drop off type of operation. Any and all ideas are welcome- whitetail, mule or blacktail.

Thanks

Well Dan I know there are a ton of good spots to go chase deer. There are several ranchers in the Douglas Wyoming area that welcome bow hunters.  Especially if your hunting white tail deer as that hate them out their as they cross breed with their mulies. We found a couple ranchers let us hunt for free as long as we where shooting white tails and coyotes.

My son in-law who has taken 7 or 8 pope and young bucks shot the largest buck he ever shot out there.
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

In mid-November I would try to find a spot where gun season hadn't started yet, or at least some land that was bow only.  You can, and I do, bow hunt right through gun season (legal in Minnesota) but the experience, at least for me, is reduced by having to wear orange and give up the quiet solitude of pre-gun season.

Mid November is pretty much prime time in most areas, if you could get away a little earlier it might be easier.  In Minnesota,  the last week of October and the first week of November is some of the best, if not the best, hunting.  Gun season hasn't started yet, bucks are searching...getting excited just thinking about it.

Ohio.  This state is known for BIG deer, has numerous public hunting sites, non-resident tags can be purchased over the counter and very affodable.
