Likes and dislikes of the bow-bolt take down system for longbows

Don Batten

Jimmy, I think you'd like it fine. You can't tell any differance in the ones Ive seen. It does add some mass weight to the bow. I think you would like that as well. John Dill has one in his shop that is in a longbow by Roy Hall. Ride up and shoot it.

I've got one. It's a very nice, clean and simple system. It probably does add a little weight but your talking a few ounces at most. Nothing to worry about as far as I am concerned.

Have a bow now and have had several more in the past with the bolt system, nothing not to like.  Fast, easy and looks like a one piece when it's together.

To be honest I used to be a big fan, but now I'm backing off a bit. On one of my bows that has the bow bolt after the bow is connected as one, there is a visible gap between sections. I know I'm being picky here, but I prefer the method used by BW and Big Jim, they make it practically invisible to know it's a two piece.
