I just picked up 2 journeyman broadheads 140 grain glue on at a gun / pawn shop today; they look like they are brand new. I had never heard of them but they looked real good so I bought them. The package says they are made in Canada by Journeyman Outfitters. Does anybody know anything about them?

Great heads. No longer in business. Maybe Eclipse is the modern company of that design? Had a great head called the Raptor with serrated edges that was popular and then ran into some difficulties.

I think the Journeyman head became what is now sold as the Eclipse broadhead.

Thanks guys. They do look like eclipse heads, I hope they are not too difficult to sharpen.

I have shot them alot over the last eighteen years or so.When I heard that they were closing up shop I bought all I could find.A super tuff head that I have found to be very easy to sharpen. That was a great find for sure.

I think Magnus use to make one (they stopped making them)that looked like the original journeyman.
If we're not supposed to eat animals ... how come they're made out of meat? ~anon

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

I killed mt first longbow buck (and largest) with the Journeyman head. Super easy to sharpen and they fly great. The company sold and became the Eclipse which I used on 2 deer last year. Great heads.

I have been on the Journeyman journey for a long time.  I bought some originals at a swap table, worked fantastic.

Then Magnus started making them, worked fantastic.  When I heard they were going to stop manufacturing, I bought a bunch.  I have gone through all of those.

Then Eclipse started making them and I switched to them.  They have worked perfectly also.  The Eclipse are also the highest quality broadhead of the three I have used.

Needless to say I am hooked on the Journeyman  style/design.

A couple of times I though I was going to have to pull some off of "special" arrows I have retired and reuse them.

But I am now set, as I have slowly been adding to my stash.

I have shot a bunch of animals with the journeyman head.  I got a bunch of the magnus ones when they stopped making them as I like the 160 grn heads.  What I like the most is the increased angle at the tip that the convex edge affords.  I have never rolled the tip with these.  I have some that have been through several animals.  Chad

Eclipse is the new journeyman for sure !! Theo a friend of mine was the tool and die fella that made the head.If you go on their website and read the history they mention Theo and Brian there.

I just meet Brian Oates a few months ago. He is the original owner of Journeyman broadheads for sure. He is also a P&Y scorer and he lives in Ontario.

They have been working for me for over 15 years. Jerry Pierce got me started on them.

I tried to sharpen these things w/ a file and my little smith's sharpener. I got one side sharp but really struggled w/ the other side. I really like these broadheads but I would have to get a KME to get them as sharp as they need to be...

I have known, worked with and hunted with Theo for the last 25 years. He is an excellent Tooling Engineer and Toolmaker. It was his vision, design and tooling skill that made the Journeyman great.
